The Marauder attacks with the Primary Attack button and has the ability to rebound off walls. To use this ability jump towards a wall and hold down the Jump button. When you hit the wall you will be propelled upward and in the direction opposite of the wall. As long as you continue hitting walls you will continue wall jumping.
At stage two its advanced form becomes avaliable: Advanced Marauder.
Marauder Strategies
- After the basilisk, the marauder is the hardest alien class to master.
- It has enough health to do some basic rushing, but it's better to avoid the defenses and head straight for the key buildings (Armoury, Reactor, Telenode).
- The main potency of the marauder is it's unpredictability. With it's quick and high jumps, it can be a problem for almost any human, if used properly.
- The walljump needs a lot of training as well. In some cases, marauders can get to places no other alien can reach. And also, humans might not expect a marauder coming their way, so it's a useful surprise tactic.
- The most potent 'move' a marauder can do is jumping over the humans head and headbiting him as you fly by. At times, while holding a button, two successive attacks can be done, killing a helmetless human.
- There is no limit to the walljumps that can be chained together. So on certain maps, marauders can do a quick chimney climb through vertical vents.
- Humans using weapons without a reload (Las Gun, Chaingun) can be very deadly to a marauder that has troubles approaching them properly. In those cases, either retreat or use some cover to your advantage.
Marauder Killing Strategies
- To kill a marauder, it is recommended that you arm yourself with a weapon without reload (Las Gun, Chaingun), since marauders can rarely kill humans that can keep them at constant damage, unless they get into a combo.
- Don't retreat into a vent that a marauder can enter, unless you have a weapon with a lot of damage per second, because then you will surely get killed.
- Try to lead the marauder into a room with no walls for him to bounce off, that can sometimes give you an advantage over him (for example, halls on tremor).
- Strafing is a practical way to deal with marauder jumps on you, since they won't have much time to turn around, and you can probably get a free shot.
