Descripton

The Dretch is the alien team’s weakest offensive class. Its only attack is to make forward contact with a human player or human defensive structure. The amount of damage dealt to a human depends on what armour they were wearing and where they were hit, with headshots resulting in the most damage. Dretches can also wallwalk; toggle it by pressing the Crouch button.

Dretch Strategies

  • Dretches are free and humans won't get too much credit from killing a single dretch, but early on a dretch can be a deadly weapon against the unarmored human. It can be better then some other stage 1 classes at earning more then it's worth.
  • Aim for the head! At stage 1 human don't have helmets but they can have light armour.(notice your dps: 2 attacks in the head are enough)
  • You can't be a good alien player without being skilled as a dretch, since dretches are possibly the only thing you will have at your hands when you join (except a Granger, but they are unable to attack).
  • As a dretch, you can do almost no damage to the enemy base, because you can just attack turrets and being built teslas. It can be useful at the beginning of the game to take out some turrets of the human base: this will make a rush easier, because the humans will have to only count on their rifle to defend the base (see at Advanced tactics). But you also can definitely kill many humans trying to rush yours, and then gather enough evos to get something more powerful.
  • Dretches have low health and are easy to kill if they just charge the enemy. That's why dretches need to use their speed and stealth to their advantage.
  • Wallwalking is a must for any remotely capable dretch player. Not only will you block your allies less, but your enemies will have a harder time hitting you.
  • Whenever there is a chance to ambush the enemy, you must use it. When you see the enemy coming, find some cover and wait for him to turn his back to you. Then he is as good as dead. But this strategy has to be used carefully if your target has a Helmet.
  • Dretches can move faster when jumping, but they are completely silent when walking, whilst jumping makes a sound that can give away your position.
  • A dretch armed with poison can do an instantkill on a human without a helmet with a successful headbite.
  • Dretches can be very deadly in large numbers, and at times that will be unavoidable. But even then, each individual should use all the above mentioned strategies. That's typically called a Dretch Storm.

Advanced Strategies

Take out the turrets of the default layout base (1.1)

Here is a video to show you how to take out turrets.
As you can see, it's hard, and you will need some practice before mastering it.

  • When there is just one turret, just make circles around it and avoid being shot in going faster than the turret. You can also jump and the turn on it.
  • If there are two turrets, it's harder. Go near one turret, do an half-life circle around it, and then go to the second turret to make an half-circle. After that, go back to the first turret and do that again until the both turrets explode.

Destroy turrets on the edge (1.1)

You can also destroy turrets on a edge without being shot.
All what you need to do is wallwacking on the wall under the turret and just aim the turret. Do not approach too much, or the turret will 'see' you.

Dretch Killing Strategies

  • Dretches are fast, but weak. The most effective way to deal with dretches is to use weapons that do splash damage (Shotgun or a Flame Thrower for example).
  • On stage 1, dretches can be very deadly to an unaware human. Thus, all humans should constantly monitor their surroundings for a dretch threat.
  • Don't be afraid to retreat if there are more dretches. Early on and even later a Dretch Storm with many dretches can be quite deadly.
  • Keep your ears open for the squeak they make when they jump, that can usually give them away.
  • When entering a door, always check the wall above the other side of the door, because that's a usual place dretches use for an ambush. In general, always check the ceilings for unwanted surprises.
