Description
The Dragoon attacks by either biting with the Primary Attack button or pouncing with Secondary Attack. To pounce, first hold down the Secondary Attack button to charge up, then release to leap forward and damage the first things that gets in front of your crosshair : constructions, enemies or teammates. While charging you will be unable to jump normally and will move at a reduced rate. Aim up a little to fly further when pouncing.
At stage three its advanced form becomes available: Advanced Dragoon.
Dragoon Strategies
- The more you charge, the longer the pounce is, and so is the damage. But you are an easy target while you are charging it. so you should avoid charging for long in close combat.
- You can charge your secondary attack while you are in the air (even while you are pouncing)
- You can travel long distance in short time with the pounce. You can either approach the enemy before he can respond, or you can retreat faster then they can follow you.
- If you initiate a long pounce, instead of repeating the pounce for longer travel, it's enough to just Bunny Hop. Since you have enough speed at start, you will keep at it.
- A Dragoon early in stage 1 can bring swift victory to the alien teams, if humans don't have an effective enough base.
- Dragoons are very effective for hit and run tactics. At times they don't even have to stop, just pounce through the hall with a human target, and killing him without stopping the pouncing.
- A dragoon headchomp can be very nasty for humans early in game.
- Dragoons can usually jump over the enemy defenses and head for the key buildings, because turrets can't respond in time to kill a dragoon that pounces over them.
- Be very careful when pouncing around, since there are always chances you might pounce your own builder or a wounded alien
Dragoon Killing Strategies
- Dragoons tend to get confused when there are many human circling them, so group tactics work best against a lone goon
- In many cases, dragoons will use an opening to retreat if they get injured, more then any other alien class. That's when they are easy to follow, since goons cannot accelerate well in hallways with many corners
- When a goon jumps into your base, shoot it down as soon as possible, since it can do severe damage to the buildings before base defenses take it down
- Try not to go out unarmored when you know there is a goon waiting nearby. In most cases, that will only result with a free kill for the alien team
- Dragoons are clumsy in greater numbers in tight hallways, they might kill each other sooner then the enemy
- Don't run from them, sidestep, they will probably miss and end up being shot
