In addition to the Dragoon’s abilities, the Advanced Dragoon can fire long ranged spiked barbs with the Activate Upgrade button. Up to three of these barbs may be held in reserve and they regenerate automatically over time.

Advanced Dragoon Strategies

• All the tactics considering basic Dragoons can also be applied here, with a few additions
• Advanced Dragoon has a longer pounce than a basic Dragoon, meaning it can reach places the regular goon could not, most notably some high flying jetpackers
• A barb can be very painful if it hits the target in the head, in most cases it means an instant kill. Since it's the only real ranged attack aliens have, it should be used to it's full extent
• When sniping the human base, it's sometimes better to shoot for some further away key buildings, most notably armouries , repeaters or the Reactor itself, than to try and clear the turrets on the way
• Sometimes it's important to be sure you hit the building. Since the barb arcs as it flies, at times it's hard to know did it hit the target. So, it's recommended to listen for the sound buildings make when hit and for the smoke
• If there are no humans in base, take your time, and snipe the key structures, but don't attack the Reactor since it will call humans back to base

Advanced Dragoon Killing strategies

• Treat it as a normal goon in most cases, with the note that it has a longer pounce range and can shoot barbs
• The barbs are easy to dodge, but since they travel fast, at closer range they can be very deadly. Also, barbs make a sound when they fly, so you can use that to become aware of a nearby sniping dragoon
• If you are caught in a prolonged fight against a dragoon, count its barbs. After he fires the 3rd one there is a chance the 4th one is coming soon, but after that it will take a while for a goon to regain his barbs
• The barb will also push you away quite a bit, so you can end up falling somewhere or getting out of attack range, but you can also use it to determine the location of the shooter
• Some smoking buildings are a barb away from their destruction, so at times it's better to sacrifice yourself by getting in barbs way in order to save the Reactor, for example
